For me, L2TP is the best. This is 'cause I can't use SSTP on my old growler of a laptop that will not support Windows7 (no driver's available)
It's a computer. It contains only zeroes and ones. Ergo, it can be made to do anything by those in the know

I have a comment and a question. I successfully used OpenVPN in Dubai for a year on my laptop, PC and a router which I connected my Vonage phone to. Now for the question; I am moving to Shanghai in a few weeks and could someone tell me why I should consider SSTP over my proven OpenVPN service? I'd really like a good answer as I would like to avoid as many issues as possible with communication, and streaming video (slingbox) when I move to China. Thanks in advance.

For your consideration and an explanation of how SSTP works and bypasses the blocking which you may encounter in China please see; http://www.intl-alliance.com/forum/s...ght=SSTP+works

Gday col147, can I ask why you prefer sstp/pptp, sstp is very secure and others say it has good speeds, however I find different, same with OpenVpn,I personally use L2TP because I get the speed and it is far more secure than PPTP.

    Thanks Nessy

There isn't any one protocol that will keep everyone happy all the time. Thats why we offer 3 different protocols whereas folks can try switching between to see what works best for them. As network policies differentiate between users all over the world, multiple operating systems are in play, and distance is always a factor to consider, one protocol fits all would never work. So different vpn protocols will work differently for each user. The networking world is not a one size fits all world.

Open VPN is already on my long list of to-do items. I'll try and get something in place within a week or two.

Well, the OpenVPN project was well worth the wait.
First, I was hooked on and swore by L2TP/IPSec, then came along the much improved and easy to install and use SSTP dialer system and I changed, and now comes the OpenVPN interface which is just as easy to install and use as the SSTP dialer and now I'm torn between the two. decisions decisions.
Oh well, the world doesn't stop spinning just because we like the sunshine.

Our aim is to create and deploy useful services. I myself prefer OpenVPN now and thats what I use. I now have additional hardware to support additional OpenVPN servers so I'll be deploying those little by little over the next 2 weeks. We've got about 21 countries now open for OpenVPN and we'll be deploying additional ones nearly every day. If folks have specific countries they want up earlier than our scheduled deployment, post the country in this thread and I'll move it to the top of our list.
